Michael Fisher—Registered Nutritionist & Whole Foods Consultant
After graduating from Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, Michael Fisher studied in Japan for one year to discover Asian healing traditions. Since 2008, he has studied and worked with Paul Pitchford (author of Healing with Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition). Through this remarkable educational experience Michael deepened his understanding of pre-revolutionary Chinese Medicine, which emphasizes the three therapeutic branches, including spiritual awareness, movement and a foundational whole foods diet. He incorporates shiatsu diagnosis in his practice as well as therapeutic qi gong and herbal remedies. Michael practices “energy awareness” in his work along with lifestyle and emotional counselling. He is also a Reiki bodywork practitioner.
Michael has written for several major health publications in Canada and teaches courses in nutrition and dietary healing as founder of Food Dharma - A Course in Enlightened Eating. As cofounder of Whole Foodies, he teaches and inspires therapeutic cuisine through video, blog, newsletters, retreats, and workshops. Michael was pleased to teach alongside Paul Pitchford at his 2009 three-week Healing with Whole Foods intensive in New York, preparing meals, special foods (ferments, sprouted seed milks, etc.), and leading food preparation workshops. He is returning with Paul to Bali, Indonesia for the Healing with Whole Foods intensive in September 2010. He will teach with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in the fall of 2010, and is frequently a key presenter in various workshops in the US and Canada.
